My Story

Working in the non-profit sector has woven together the multiple strands of my life.  It has merged my formal education, skills, background, values and interests with the desire to take action.

After earning two law degrees and an MBA, and working as a lawyer, I left behind my legal adventures to ultimately find my natural habitat in the non-profit sector.  I have been blessed with the opportunity to take on leadership roles in two charities, to steward them, and eventually, take part in turning them around, to be their very best in serving their communities.  And the key to success has always been working collaboratively with staff, board members, community members and other stakeholders.

My professional and educational experiences have allowed me to delve into the fields of adult literacy, food security and poverty, as well as sustainable development and environmental protection.  I am passionate about people, the long-term health of our planet, and the organizations that serve them.

I am known for my creative, visionary style - always on the look-out for better and innovative ways of "doing business". I take great joy in strengthening the functions and resources required to build resilient and well-adjusted organizations.  It feels like a tremendous achievement when all the different aspects of running a non-profit join together like petals forming a flower:  strategy, governance, operations, supported by policies & bylaws, research & writing and change management.

I reside with my husband and daughter near Lake Ontario and aspire to live every day with joy and gratitude.

I wish to acknowledge that the land on which I work  is the traditional territory of the Wendat, the Anishnaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Métis, and the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.
